Departed from home around 7:30am. Stopped at Foh San, Ipoh to 'yam zou cha' around 10am before continuing our journey.
As
usual, the dim sum at Foh San was savory. There was something weird
about the dim sum with the green sauce, which they deemed to be one of
the hotest selling dim sum at their shop, although I could totally see
sushi lovers falling in love with that.
After
a few hours' drive, we finally reached e.City Hotel, which is located
near One City mall (they are actually interlinked which is soooo cool)!
What I love about the hotel is that they have very chic design, their
customer service was great, they offer welcoming drinks which is not a
culture that we come across that often in Malaysia, they have this super
cool technology/system where you can just scan your room card at a
black patch in the lift and it will automatically bring you to the floor
that your room is located at AND they actually deliver TheStars
newspapers to your doorstep (technically the door handle .__.) every
morning. The hotel room was rather modest and nontheless simple and
clean. Nothing too grand, but all those little here and there really made an impression on me. No
pics taken because I was too tired and lazy when I reached the hotel
heh but you can view the photos of the hotels by clicking here.
We went to One City mall and SK Mart after we settled down in our room and chilled for a bit.

my lunch: Tanuki Udon (Hot) RM16.04
There
are not many ramens that I would rave about in my life but the Tanuki
Udon from Jyuhachi Ban is just sooo tasty that I just have to rave about
it! The udon is springy and bouncy and it's quite mouthful. Morever,
the bits and pieces of the tempura makes it even tastier! The other Japanese food were sooo good as well and my
family couldn't stop praising how good they were when eating.
Overall, it was a pretty good dining expereince at Jyuhachi Ban,
although I have to say I'm slightly disappointed by how the Kani Kama
Maki turned out because the other dishes were tooo good. Despite the
slight disappoint, I would still give this restaurant a 4.5/5 as the
other dishes made up to that.
After our lunch, we continued to explore the mall and the mart. One City mall is very spacious and vacant. There weren't many shops but there were definitely adequate facilities such as eateries, gym and cinema. It's not that type of mall that is filled with luxurious brands and goods, but the there are definitely things for me to shout-out for this seemingly ordinary mall.
First, their eateries are DA BOMB. They offer a variety of food and they are just of finest quality.
Second,
they are famous for their Sky Park, which is a spot where they have
three pieces of large glass panes where you can walk on and see all the
way through from the highest floor of One City mall to its lowest
ground. It is a perfect place for photo-shooting! Looking at the photos that
I've taken there, I think the reflection of the clouds and sky makes it
look so calming and magical. The downside to it is that people who have
a fear of height may find it slightly daunting to step onto the
glass pane AKA ME. If it wasn't for a few Instagram-worthy shots, I
wouldn't have risked my dear life to stand on the glass pane AT ALL. I
mean, it was totally worth it, but ask my brother and you'll know how
chicken I was when I was taking the photos! I literally need someone to
walk me onto the glass pane and I will do nothing more than standing
there like a statue for the first minute to take photos and find both of
my legs dissolved into a puddle of jelly and I would just sit
and refuse to move until someone volunteered to take me down from the
pane. So now that I'm looking back at the photos, I really do appreciate
all the shots taken no matter good or bad because I traded them with MY
LIFE!

The view from the top is beautiful!
Third, they have loads of pre-loved items / cheap items sold at the second and third floor, which is pretty awesome if you're finding clothes that are super cheap. I think I saw the pre-loved shop selling 3 pieces of clothes for just RM5! It's crazy! It's a shame that in the end, we didn't manage to enter because my family had other plans brewing in the pot.
The
night view from the rooftop of One City mall was gorgeous! We lingered
around for a bit and had our dinner at Khrua Thai, which is an authentic
thai restaurant. At first, I was a bit reluctant as I wanted to opt for
the Japanese restaurant Ikaho, which is also on the rooftop and was
quite disappointed when my family went for Khrua Thai instead but it
turned out to be a blessing in disguise! When I first entered the
restaurant, the interior part looked pretty normal but the part where
it's open-air offers absolutely beautiful night view of the city! I
won't talk about all the dishes one by one because they are really
delicious despite the fact that they are quite ordinary oriental dishes
if you ask me. But trust me, I think they have some sort of secret
recipe that elevated all these ordinary dishes to another level of
savory! The dish that my family and I love the most is the cheese deep
fried squid. You just need to try it if by any chance you're dining in
this restaurant! Overall, I'd give a non-hesitant 5/5 for Khrua Thai.
Their service is friendly, food was served fast, food absolutely
delicious and the view is beauttt.
After
our dinner, we watched Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales
at the Premium-X cinema. I was slightly annoyed when person actually
asked me to pay for 7 adult tickets when I clearly told her I wanted
tickets for 6 adults 1 child. I actually did specifically emphasize but the tickets were printed and money was bound to be given. I was feeling @#%$#^ However, my mood had a quick turn when the movie started - I was
sucked into the pace and plot of the movie. I have to say that I'm not a
huge fan of the Pirates of the Caribbean series as I am not one who has
the determination to follow the wholeee series throughout so many years
(at least no movie has ever succeeded in mesmerizing me to the extend
that I would follow each and every movie in the series till now, the most I can follow is a trilogy), but
I've gotta say I really love Jack Sparrow. He's fun, quirky and he just
seems so relaxed and witty even at the most intense times. When we
walked out of the cinema, I was just so happy that our day ended on that
really entertaining note.
The
second day turned out to be horrendous - I had severe sore throat and
was feeling unwell. Nontheless, I dressed up and head to Sky 360 for the
complimentary breakfast that our hotel offered.
![]() |
the reflection on the glass surface of the table outside Sky 360 is love, love the bokeh effect it gives!
I
love the concept of Sky 360 as it never lacks in greenery! I couldn't
comment on the food much mainly because I was feeling unwell on the
second and third day so I didn't feel like eating much for my breakfast.
Only ate some cereals and yeah.. of course they taste good. Don't know
why I just have a natural affection for the cereals section, anyone here
like me? I ALWAYS go for the cereal section first before anything even
if my body is functioning optimally. Anyway, the cereal section at Sky
360 was pretty special. Normally, we would turn on the tap and the milk
will flow out from the mouth of the tap into our bowls right? Not for
this one. They actually put the milk into a bottle and put in a bowl
filled with ice to maintain its coldness. When you wanna pour some milk
into your bowl, you actually have to take the bottle out from the bowl
filled with ice, open the cork-like thing and voila! There's just
something about doing this in the old school way that makes it feel ultra special though it's probably nothing extremely note-worthy haha.
After
the breakfast, we went to our uncle's house and had a good family chat.
When all of us decided that we were hungry (after God knows how long),
we went to the Klang area to search for some famous bak kut teh shops
but it was a little past the lunch hour (around 1:30pm) and all of the
top notch bak kut teh shops were either closed or closing. In the end,
we settled for the shop called Pao Xiang String Tied Bak Kut Teh which
is just couple of shops down from Mo Sang Kor bak kut teh shop (which we
planned to go initially) *sigh*
The
environment was not bad, the service was friendly, the food was served
speedy and the food was okay. Overall, I would give this a 3/5 because
it didn't really taste exceptionally good but the food did fill our
tummies at the most crucial of times and to be fair, they tasted decent
so 3 is kind of moderate-ish. If you're looking for good customer
service, speedy serving and some bak kut teh goodness, this is the shop
that you should opt for.
We
parted with uncle and aunt after lunch because they had visitors coming
over from Johor, so we said goodbye and went to our next destination -
Pavilion!
I
was really hyped about two shops in Pavilion no matter what time of the
year I visit - first, Typo; second, Muji. Yeappp, I'm a hugeee sucker
for nice and aesthetically pleasing stationery and decoration stuff. So I
dragged my family along to Typo, Muji and YSL beaute (hello, we
actually lined up to get in there, which shows how filthy famous it
is!). A bit disappointed because we didn't get to go Zara. I actually
saw lots of people carrying bags from Zara, which probably means that
they have some really nice clothes for this season? Well, it's all about
priorities and a nerd like me? You can already imagine where I'd go
first haha.
Saw
people swarming over at Snowflake and fam decided to try out some of
the desserts while waiting for their daughter who gets a little lost in
Typo. Both of the desserts we ordered were good but the one the I
personally love is the Snowflake Bestseller which is about RM10+ In
fact, I already knew I'd love it because I love the similar type of
signature dessert from BlackBall and I can't really tell which is
better, so I'd say I love this and also the one from BlackBall the same.
I love it because it's sweet and it's got a really fine texture for the
shaved ice, unlike the shaved ice that has a coarse texture in Mango
Deluxe. Besides, the yam and potato thing (idk what they are called)
were super Q and chewy.
After hopping in a few more shops, it was finally dinner time! We headed to Morganfield's for a meat feast.
We
ordered the Ribs Sampl3r, which is a set that allows us choose 3 of their
signature Sticky Bones flavours out of 4, served with other side dishes
such as grilled Footlong Farmer's Bratwurst sausage, grilled Spicy
Devil sausage, grilled Herby Hog sausage, garden salad, grilled corn,
corn bread and crispy French fries. The 3 flavours that we ended up
choosing were 1. Hickory BBQ Spare Ribs 2. Garlicky BBQ Spare Ribs and
3. The Naughty Spare Ribs (in pic from left to right). My verdict?
Hickory is DA BEST, Naughty in the second and Garlicky is in the third
place (no where as savoury as Hickory or Naughty). I think you can still
give Garlicky a go if you're a garlicky person but even a die-hard garlic
fan like me doesn't approve it so, it's up to you really haha.

thanks for the shirt Lingbigyong!
Remember the welcoming drink I mentioned on the first day? Well, we had ours on the last day of our stay .__.
After checking out from e.City Hotel, we went to Ikea Damansara. Again, I love anything aesthetically pleasing, including the furnitures in Ikea which shouldn't be such a surprise to you guys now haha. I actually spotted LOTS of knicks and knacks that I would love to add into my shopping cart but unfortunately I didn't get most of them because 1. I didn't wanna burden my parents 2. I was determined to save / earn more money until I can afford those items 3. I never have a good financial planning if I have any at all 4. I usually don't get the things I wanted because my financial planning sucked and that's pretty much the summary of my whole life. I mean, most of the things that I wanted aren't that crucial at all at the end of the day so... *heh*

lunchiee at Ikea Damansara food court
Of
course, we needed to go to The Curve for a stroll before heading back,
if not it would have been WASTED. I was absolutely gutted by how huge
the Borders at The Curve is and how organized the books are! I
completely lose it when Borders decided to greet me with Virginia
Woolf's Mrs Dalloway and To The Lighthouse!!! I mean !!! Still couldn't
get over how excited I was and still am. It's so pathetic that at the
moment, I actually don't have any real affection towards human beings as
much as I do for non-living things like them books haha.
