*SPOILERS ALERT* Passengers is set in a futuristic world. The story is about a bunch of people who signed up to the Avalon starship company to be transported to a new homeland called Homestead II. All the passengers are being put into a hibernation state whilst they travel through the space for 120 years until they reach Homestead II. Halfway through the journey, some mechanical malfunction occured at Avalon's spaceship when one of the larger meteors got through the sheild, and triggered the hibernation pod of a fellow mechanical engineer Jim Preston (Chris Pratt). He woke up, thinking that all of them were about to land in Homestead II, but ended up finding out that they have only completed 40 years out of 120 years of the journey - he woke up 90 years earlier than everyone else, and the worst part is - he has no way to get back to sleep in the hibernation pod. In a year's time, he try everything he could to get help but was in vain. His only companion was the robot bartender - Arthur (Michael Sheen), who is also the main catalyst and source for comic relief. One day, as he is strolling in the hibernation room, he spots Aurora Lane (Jennifer Lawrence). From her electronic profile, he got to know that she is a journalist from New York. He also watches the videos that she recorded before boarding Avalon and reads the books she wrote. He was profoundly attracted to her. After that, he pondered upon the decision whether or not to wake her up as well as he has the hibernation pod manual. And I shall leave you at the cliffhanger for you to find out the rest of the movie in the theatre *evil laugh*

Sorry for the super lengthy synopsis of the movie. Honestly, I suck at summarizing things and I think this is pretty hard for me because I watched the movie and I know everything that's gonna happen and I JUST CAN'T PUT THEM IN SIMPLER WORDS. And also, I don't know if I'm giving away too much lol. I feel like everything is important and everything must be told in order for you guys to get the gist of the movie. I hope I didn't give away too much of the plot. Review time! Okay, first I am gonna make comparison of the trailer to the actual plot of the movie. EVERYTHING WAS UNEXPECTED. I thought it's just gonna be another "space movie". I don't know if it's just me or it's everybody, but I'm always under the impression that space movie is always slow-paced, and someone is bound to die. ALWAYS. Passengers is totally the opposite of what I expected. It's hilarious, it's controversial, it's nerve-wrecking. A lot of people say that it's like a spaceship version of titanic, but I think it's more than that. This movie makes you think in depth, like how fate plays with our lives in a million ways, the butterfly effect of that one single decision you made, the nature of mankind and how isolation can effect mankind so deeply that a person is bound to do something against his conscience because it's the nature of humans. This movie definitely provoked a lot of deep thoughts in me. Plus, the Sci-Fi genre is totally my cup of tea. Hence, I would 100% recommend this movie!

We got to watch this movie 6 days before its official screening in Malaysia, which is on 29 Dec 2016 and I think we're so lucky that I'm beyond words! This is definitely the most perfect Christmas gift for me because I get to watch Jennifer Lawrence's movie and share the joy with my bestie (who has been looking forward to watch this movie for many months) and my family as well. Thank you GSC for this wonderful experience!

Hope you guys enjoyed reading.
