A day at George Town heritage site

I always find myself irrevocably being drawn towards the calmness and peacefulness in the themed cafe that exudes certain quality that other cafe does not. I like to indulge in the light jazz music whilst taking sips of coffee idly. The more I have imagined it, the more graceful the whole environment will be pictured in my mine, especially when it blends in with the charisma of mine of being a bohemian (if only I had). Finally, after what seems like a decade, I decided to walk around at the heritage site in George Town with my bestie, Sze Chyi. We were both so excited when this idea just went off the top of our heads! Not long after the idea emerged, I browsed through the Internet to find every possible information regarding the cafes situated at the heritage site. I have read through so many reviews and comments on Facebook posted by those who had visited the themed cafe. Consequently, I found some really impressive ones and had jotted all of them on my note book (more like scribbled papers). I even sketched the map of that area with my lousy sketching skill from Google Maps. I'm not gonna post my sketch up here because, (1) It's too messy (2) I've lost it.

We took a bus down to the town because we hadn't had our driving license yet. Sze Chyi really donned herself up and I would like to give some credits for her on that. I'm wearing smart casual.

Our first destination was "The Alley" because I saw Christina Kuan took a picture in front of that cafe. It clearly aroused my curiosity as I was going like: How bad can a cafe that Christina Kuan went to be? Therefore, I insisted on searching for that cafe and gave up at last after we spent about 45 minutes trying to locate that cafe. Google Maps must have gone awry or I might have keyed in the wrong address. So disappointed! But for the sake of not wasting anymore time, we proceeded to the our next destination which was Acupaday. Unfortunately, the shop was closed. Anyways, the reason we have chosen Acupaday was because, (1) it is scooter-themed (2) they have this coffee called 'illy', which I have never ever heard of but would like to have a sip of (3) it looked really vintage judging by the post of its official site on Facebook (4) the reviews were good. Pretty solid reason I would say.

Nonetheless, we proceeded to our next destination - The Twelve Cups.

Impressive interior design
Twelve Chinese zodiacs! How creative.
Matcha cake with mickey's smiling face on the plate
The mocha / cappuccino tasted really good!

Goh Kaki
_
34 Bishop Street
10200 Penang, Malaysia.
First of all, I'm gonna be honest with y'all. This is not on our itinerary. We just happen to past through there and we were about to make our decision to enter the cafe called "Route 9" located beside Goh Kaki when one of the waiter from Goh Kaki came out and welcomed us and said that they have a variety of food (he just happened to come out to water the plants). That's how we ended up having our lunch at Goh Kaki.

Front part
Back part
Kung Fu rice.. In case you're wondering what we had xD If you are looking for something to fill your stomach and at the same time cost-efficient, I would strongly recommend Goh Kaki as our meal was only for a nice RM15.
The mural printing / drawing looks intricate and detailed
I was actually trying not to laugh but failed at my feeble attempts :(

The customer service was really good and they even upgraded the drink for us without extra charges!
PERSONAL RATING: 3.5/5

The Book Sandwich Cafe
_
205 Lebuh Pantai,
George Town, Penang, Malaysia.
Referring to the map that I've drawn, we needed to walk past six alleys / main roads until reaching The Book Sandwich cafe. Weird, but still worked. The customer service there was really good and "good" is definitely an understatement. They just keep on checking up on us, see if we needed anything and asked if the food was okay. Best part is, the waitress always refilled our glass of water to quench our thirst.

Cacti on the wooden planks on the brick wall

They have this little reading area that looked totally exquisite and majestic

Curtains and dim lights and jazz songs. Relaxing ambience.
Ordered "Egg Benedict" at RM15.90. Ying Xin claimed that this was the tastiest food at their cafe. And indeed it tasted really good. Probably not as good as it would have been because we were too full :P
Really love how majestic the chair looks like. The art of out of focus hahaha..
Loving the cacti and plank woods and the two pots of ferns as well.
Classmate love
PERSONAL RATING: 4.8 / 5

Later on we walked to First Avenue mall and basically just strolled around trying to get a perfect gift for Sze Chyi's friend. Bought Zoella's first novel "Girl Online" and I was so excited to get my hands on it. I have a feeling that a book review might be coming up real soon hahaha..

That's all from me. Take care and till next time ;)

Ta.
